Aladdin Accounting – Role Overview
We are seeking an Investment Accounting Subject Matter Expert (SME) with exposure to the Aladdin ecosystem, particularly the Aladdin Accounting capability, to support a large investment platform transformation programme.
This role will focus on supporting the implementation and operational design of Aladdin Accounting, ensuring that accounting processes, operational controls, and reporting requirements are properly reflected within the platform.
The consultant will work closely with finance, investment operations, and technology teams, helping translate existing accounting procedures and operational workflows into scalable platform designs.
This position is particularly suitable for professionals currently working in investment accounting, NAV oversight, reconciliation control, or accounting production teams who are interested in transitioning into a consulting role supporting investment platform transformation programmes.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Accounting SME support Act as an SME on investment accounting processes, supporting the design and validation of accounting operating models within the platform implementation. Provide expertise across the investment accounting lifecycle, including:- transaction accounting
- income recognition and accruals
- corporate actions processing
- position and cash reconciliation
- period-end and month-end accounting processes
Month-end close and NAV Oversight
Provide expertise across the investment accounting lifecycle, including:
- month-end close procedures
- NAV calculation workflows
- NAV oversight and validation processes
- accounting ledger reconciliation
- trial balance review and accounting sign off
Assist in defining responsibility matrices and operational roles across accounting teams.
Support the design of operational controls across the accounting lifecycle.
Accounting controls and operational oversight
Support the definition of accounting oversight and control frameworks, including:- reconciliation controls across custodians and accounting systems
- QC issue identification and resolution
- break management and exception handling
- operational sign-off procedures
Aladdin Accounting Architecture and platform design support
Support the design of accounting structures within the Aladdin Accounting platform, including:
- portfolio and accounting book structures
- reporting groups and portfolio hierarchies
- internal investment structures
- consolidation frameworks across legal entities or funds
Provide input into how accounting responsibilities map across IBOR and ABOR architecture within the platform.
Platform implementation and testing
Support implementation teams by validating that accounting processes are correctly reflected within the system. Assist with:- accounting test scenarios
- reconciliation validation
- month-end process testing
- data migration validation
- user acceptance testing
Stakeholder engagement
Work closely with stakeholders across:- Finance and investment accounting teams
- Investment operations teams
- Technology and data teams
- Platform implementation partners
Required Experience
Candidates should have experience in investment accounting environments where Aladdin Accounting is used or implemented, or experience supporting accounting operations in asset management or asset owner organisations.
Typical candidate backgrounds include:
- investment accountings working with Aladdin
- NAV oversight or accounting control analysts
- accounting SMEs supporting platform transformation programmes
- professionals working with other investment accounting platforms transitioning to Aladdin
Experience in environments such as:
- asset managers
- pension funds
- insurance investment platforms
- asset servicers
Investment accounting knowledge
Strong understanding of:- investment accounting lifecycle and operational workflows
- month-end accounting production processes
- NAV calculation and oversight
- reconciliation frameworks and accounting controls
- break resolution and QC management
- IFRS
- US GAAP

Preferred qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or a related discipline- Professional accounting or investment qualifications are advantageous, such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA, or CAIA
- Relevant experience in investment accounting, fund accounting, NAV oversight, accounting control, or investment operations may be considered in place of formal qualifications where appropriate
- Experience working in asset management, asset servicing, insurance investment accounting, or investment platform environments is strongly preferred
